Dorothy "Glory" Boschert, 65, of Colorado Springs began her eternal journey on July 12, 2024.
Glory was born March 5, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri to Kenneth Joseph Boschert and Dorothy Angeline (Frank) Boschert. Her father passed away when she was a small child and her mother remarried Laymon Berndsen who lovingly raised her and her two brothers as his own.
Glory loved nature and being in her beloved Rocky Mountains. She was a world traveler who thrived while being of service to others. Passionate about helping others during major life transitions, Glory ministered in local hospitals, hospices, the sheriff's office, county jail and her hometown fire department for over twenty years. Glory was a certified hospice and palliative care nurse and chaplain.
At Ground Zero following the terrorist attacks of 9/11 she volunteered as a fire chaplain through the Salvation Army. Glory was deployed through various national and international disaster relief organizations to minister in the nations of Israel, Jordan, Greece, Crete, Turkey, Myanmar, Indonesia and Iran.
A locally-trained disaster relief nurse through the Red Cross and the Salvation Army, Glory deployed to the Hayman, Waldo, and Black Forest Fires in and near Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was a board certified crisis response chaplain with The American Association of Christian Counselors and educated to provide spiritual and physical trauma care.
Glory spent ten years as an army civilian nurse case manager for Afghanistan and Iraq war-wounded U.S. Army soldiers, coordinating their healing care while assigned to Colorado's Fort Carson Warrior Transition Unit, which later became a battalion.
Glory was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Joseph Boschert, her parents Laymon Berndsen & Dorothy (Boschert) Berndsen, and her brother Robert Boschert.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Liz) Antognoli, grandchild Luca Antognoli and her brother Ken Boschert.
Glory's wish was to forgo a funeral or services but rather to have her friends and loved ones carry on her legacy by purchasing her recently published book, "Stories From the Edge of Heaven: A Guide to Spiritual Care of the Dying". All proceeds from her book go directly to children in orphanages around the globe. Incredibly, her book was officially published on the day she passed away.
