It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy ("Dot") H. Brown (née Davis) of Rockville Centre, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and friend. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and love on August 25, 2025. Dorothy was born in Queens, New York, on May 2, 1931, and settled in Massapequa, New York, with her husband Robert ("Bob") Brown to raise their three sons, Richard (Dona), Bob (Elana), and Larry (Carrie). Dorothy cherished her sons and supported them in all aspects, including by attending their many sporting events, taking them on multiple-times-a-week visits to All American, or by grocery shopping twice a day to satiate the never-ending appetites of three growing boys (which may have been the cause of the boys' height).
Dorothy loved to read and was skilled at cross-stitching. She enjoyed the simple pleasure of sharing company with friends and family, especially to ask "so tell me, what's new?" over a sweet treat, lunch, coffee, or a glass of wine (with ice). She loved her summers on Lake Winnipesaukee where she created many, many fond memories for generations of family and friends (who became family).
Most of all, Dorothy loved and cared for her family. She always offered her support and never missed the chance to spend time with her grandchildren, Jessica, Melissa, Kevin (Meghan), Davis (Kaylyn), and Ansley. She attended dance recitals, birthdays, or sporting events, and was always happy to text, facetime, or call (even if the call lasted one minute because she did not want to "hold you up"). She also adored her new role as a great-grandmother, or "Gigi," to Reagan and Parker, and loved hearing the pitter-patter of two-year-old feet on the stairs she shared with her grandson's family that announced a little visitor was on her way.
Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Helen, and her husband Bob. She is survived by her loving sister, Janet; by her children, Rich and Dona Brown, Bob Brown and Elana Maxwell, and Larry and Carrie Brown; by her loving grandchildren, Jessica, Melissa, Kevin and Meghan, Davis (Kaylyn), and Ansley; and by her great-grandchildren, Reagan and Parker.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Make A Wish Foundation of Metro New York in her name would be appreciated.
