Dorothy Churchill

Dorothy "Dotty" (Young) Churchill, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on July 22, 1940, in Swiften, Arkansas, to the late Frank and Esther (Weatherspoon) Young. Dotty was preceded in death by her loving husband Mike.

Dotty spent her career as a talented seamstress, specializing in the creation of exquisite bridal gowns. Her skillful hands and artistic eye brought joy to countless brides on their special day. In addition to her professional work, Dotty had a passion for making greeting cards and scrapbooking, hobbies that allowed her to express her creativity and bring happiness to those around her.

A woman of Lutheran faith, Dotty was known for her easy going, happy-go-lucky personality. She was a comforting presence, always ready to offer help and support to family and friends. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of many. Her journey through life led her from Sandusky, OH, to Winter Haven, FL before relocating to Jacksonville, NC to be with her daughter.

Dotty is survived by her loving daughter, Pamela Churchill of Jacksonville, NC and her son, Leroy "Jim" Churchill, along with his wife Lisa, of Lakeland, FL. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Paige Vaughan (Brock), Kenneth Churchill (Megan), and Alicia Brandt (Bernie), as well as her adored great-grandchildren, Parker, Audrey, and Savannah Vaughan, Loki and Oliver Churchill, and Ezra Brandt.

Though her sewing machine is now silent, Dotty's laughter and love will echo in the hearts of her family and friends. Rest easy, Dotty. Your legacy will continue to wrap us all in warmth and love.
