Dorothy Max Cordle

Dorothy Max Cordle, age 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 21st, 2024. Dorothy was born to the late Jeff & Bertha Max on December 4th, 1926, in Burlison, Tn. Dorothy spent her life serving our faithful Lord. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Dorothy was the matriarch in her family. She and her late husband, Alfred Raymond Cordle, were married on April 15th, 1944, where they were blessed with 41 years of a wonderful marriage and memories. She was a beloved eldest member of Brighton Baptist Church (since 1944) and was an active member of the Womens Missionary Union, Golden Agers, and Quilting Group at Brighton.She worked as a master seamstress for Covington Furniture Factory for over 40 years. Dorothy used her talents, strengths, and passion in her career with the company. She made her family and friends extraordinary quilts, and they will cherish each one. Each was unique for the person that received the quilt. Dorothy was also a fantastic baker. She was known for her desserts. Dorothys chocolate pie and coconut pies were delicious, and she made them for every family function that was held. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; Mearion "Jeff" Max & Bertha Mae Boswell Max, husband; Alfred Raymond Cordle, five brothers; Dewitt Max, Alton Max, Wilbur Max, Preston "Shorty" Max, Mearion "MB" Max, two sisters; Sue Max Bradshaw and Marie Max Heath, one son; Marion Robert "Bob" Cordle, one daughter; Carolyn Ann Cordle, and beloved daughter-in-law; Esther Smith Cordle. She is survived by her five loving grandchildren;Marianne Johnson (Ricky Barrett), Becky (Tony) Holland, Ray (Mystie) Cordle, Chris (Angel) Cordle, and Brian (Peg) Little, 17 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
