Dorothy was born on December 3, 1933 and she passed at The Courtyard on January 6, 2022 in Loveland, Colorado with her family by her side. Dorothy was born in Loveland, Colorado to her parents John and Mary Walker. Dorothy was so tiny that a shoe box was her first bed. She worked the sugar beet fields with her family until she was wedded and raised her children. She was a proud mother of four, Danny, Teresa (Steve) Meining, Ramon Sonny (Laura) and Roger DeGroat. She lived for and loved all of her family dearly. She helped raise her Grandchildren Rusty and Amber in the 80's and 90's, it was the highlight in her life and let everyone know it. Every conversation or written letters were always memorable with Dorothy. Her favorite thing to do in life was to sleep and swing on a porch swing. Dorothy was a resident in the same home in Berthoud, Colorado from 1960-2014 when she moved to The Courtyard in Loveland.
She was survived by her children Danny Rae and Teresa, Grandchildren; Rusty DeGroat, Amber (Jeff) Richardson, Ben (Amanda) DeGroat, Katie (Ryan) Sellinghausen; Kris, Jeff and Jennifer Meining and many Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Walker, her six siblings, two sons Roger and Ramon (Sonny) DeGroat and a great grandson (Ethan Meining) along with many other extended family members.

Condolences to the family of Dorthys.
John and I have known Dorothy for 40 years. We live on 6th St. in Berthoud, Co. I would visit her and sit on her porch swing and visit with her. Sometimes we would visit in her house. She would come to our annual picnics up the Birg Thompson Canyon at the place where the big fireplace is at. The area got washed away with the last flood up there so you cannot get to the area, but the big fireplace still stands. I remember the last picnic we had up there Dorothy made delicious, deviled eggs.

Sometimes I would go with Dorothy to Wal-Mart, and we would enjoy just looking at things and not buying much. She would come to my little parties I would have, like Tupperware, etc. and always told her not to feel obligated to buy anything just come and enjoy visiting and having fun treats of cookies, cake, etc. They were more for fun than anything.

Sometimes she and I would visit Lucille, the neighbor across the street from me and my husband at the same time. The last visit John and I had with her was at the Courtyard of Loveland in the area where there is a lot of benches, chairs and trees. It was beautiful back there, and we enjoyed our visit with Dorothy so very much. We stayed quite a while and caught up and enjoyed talking about many topics. It was nice to be outside seeing butterflies, dragonflies and birds.
Dorothy was defiantly a ray of sunshine in our lives and was very sweet but was full of love and compassion. She was a wonderful person and friend.
