Dorothy Ann Brinson-Hall, affectionately known as 'Dot, was born on July 28. 1952, in Doerun, Georgia to the late Annie Grace Sumlin-Brinson and the late Fort T. Brinson. Dot attended David E. Hooker Elementary in Doerun, Geogia, and went on to graduate from William Bryant High School in Moultrie, Georgia. Additionally, she attended Moultrie Area Vocational School where she received a degree in Secretarial Science. Dot later moved
Fort Pierce, Florida where she received her Associate Degree in Business Management, at Keiser Career College in Port St.
Lucie, Florida, Bachelor of Science, and Master Degree in Business Management, at the University of Phoenix in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Her first job was with Saint Lucie County School Board as a Clerical Aide and moved up to be a Secretary for the Saint Lucie County Head Start Program. Dot further embarked on her career path to State Farm Insurance as a Secretary and then on to a Claim Processor. Leaving that path
she became a Substitute Teacher for Saint Lucie County School System and was then hired as a First Grade Teacher at Chester A. Moore Elementary School where she was selected as Outstanding First Year Teacher. She ended her career at Frances K. Sweet Elementary school as
a Kindergarten and First grade teacher.
Dot spiritual journey began when she was baptized and became a member at First African Baptist Church in Doerun, Georgia under the leadership of Reverend W. Jordon and Reverend Harris. Upon moving to
Fort Pierce, Florida joined First Bethel Missionary Church Baptist
Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Charlie C. Byrd, late Reverend Major Highman, Reverend Dr. William Shelton, and now Reverend Eldrew Baldwin, Jr. Dot was the Executive Administrative Secretary, participated in Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir,
pastor's aide, past director of the youth department ministry, initiated and was the present director of Walk by Faith Tutoring Program Inc, was mentor of G.E.M.S. group of girls ranging from ages 5-18 monthly and mentor of two 11th grade high school students in Jonesboro, Georgia. She
was a member of the NAACP and the Martin Luther King Commentative Association. Dot was also member of the Saint James Court No. 330 Heroines of Jericho, Prince Hall Affiliated, and past member of Hispanic African American Society. Her faith was evident in her dedication to
church, community and family.
Dot loved reading books, especially the Bible. She enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in their schoolwork, activities, and anyone else she could help. Dot would do a marathon watching cooking shows. She loved spending time traveling and participating in activities with her
Heroine sisters.
Wednesday morning, October 22, 2025, at St. Lucie Medical Center, God saw fit to bring her earthly journey to a close and transitioned her to eternal rest to join her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Annie Grace Sumlin-Brinson and Fort T. Brinson;
sisters, Annie Lois Clarke-Johnson and Gloria Jean Brinson; brother, 2nd Lt. George Wade Brinson; granddaughter: Lastacia Grace Brinson; grandparents, Charlie and Mattie Sumlin, and Tom and Jessie Brinson: along with several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Left to cherish her memories are her devoted son: Stacey Adaryl Brinson; grandchildren: Benjamin Queen and Stacey Brinson, Jr., Jerimiah Brinson, Lilyanna Queen, Nunzio Rogers; special aunt: Jessie Lee Sumlin; brother, Donald Clark; brother-in-law: Wendell Johnson; goddaughters: Pearl (Alonzo) Coleman, LaKenya Ruffin, Faith (Erik) Yates, Georgett (James) Jones, Talya (Ronald) Barron, Teresa Scott, Antoneisha Armstrong, Willermine (Lance) Pettway; godsons: Rawjek Johns, Henry Clayton, Jr., Thomas (Karen) Bell, Hardy Wright III, and Lewis Wright Jr.; nieces: Deborah Clarke, Cathy (Godfrey) Brown, Jametra Clarke (David) Owens and children: Daijah Greene, Secondi Grier, Kamari Clarke, LeBron Owens, Jaden and Jaylen Owens, Keith Clarke and children: Kalila and Kaleed, Mario (Danielle) Clarke and children: Brandon Clarke, Giovanna Clarke, and David Angotta; and a host of cousins, church family, and friends.
