Dorothy E. Henson,97, Rogersville, took her last breath here on earth at 11:11 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Lake St. Louis, MO. Dot was born October 9, 1926 in Ripley, TN to the late Grady and Lillian Chamberlain. She was united in marriage to the love of her life James M. "Pete" Henson on February 1, 1945 in Caruthersville, MO. They were blessed with four wonderful children Dottie Janeanne, Donna Kay, James Kenneth, and Randall Keith. Dot was a proud World War II Navy wife. One of the first female real estate agents in our area to close multi million dollar sales. An accomplished Artist/Oil Painter. Dot loved gardening, birdwatching, traveling, and fresh cut flowers. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a prayer warrior and prayer partner to many and loved to listen to hymns and Southern gospel music. One of her greatest joys in life was being "Nana" to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was a member of the Fremont Church of God and attended James River Assembly after their closure.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, James M. "Pete" Henson. Her parents Grady and Lillian. Her brothers James and Grady Jr. Chamberlain. Her daughter Donna Kay Cook, Son-in- law Roger Cook, son James Kenneth "Kenny" Henson, Grandson Dr. Shane Cook, Grandson Richard Harris.
She is Survived by her children. Daughter Dottie "Jane" Harris husband Carl (Dot's Angel) of Rogersville, Son Randall "Randy" Henson wife Bonnie of Strafford. Sister Dollie Walker-Clayton of Sikeston. Grandchildren~ Kimberly Webb (J.R.), Kelly Cook (Debbie) Tammy Saffell (Tracey) Michael Henson, Tonya Harris, Amanda Hoyle (Brian), Angela Henson (James), Josh Henson (Kim), Jeremy Henson (Sarah) Great-Grands~ Ashley Owens (Frankie), Jonathan Webb (Bri), Lexie Webb, James Andreu Hoyle (Sherri), Ahnna Cole (Jared), Noah Webb (Brittney), Madie Kyser (Max), Lauren Henson, Jailey Carter, Mason Henson, Chloe Henson, Lily Henson, Linna Henson and Porter "Dougie" Henson. Great-Great Grands~ Wyatt Webb, Arlington Hoyle, Reid Cole, James Webb, Remi Cole, Owen Webb, Huck Owens, Alyvia Owens and Baby Cole 2024. A sister in law Nell Kennedy (Robert); many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dot lived a long fruitful life that spanned many generations. She was loved by many and is finally united with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; along with many of her loved ones and friends that have gone before. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. A Graveside Service will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery under the direction of Gorman Scharpf date and time will be announced in the near future. A celebration of life is also being planned.
