Dorothy Jean Leckron, age 97 of State Line, PA passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Born March 19, 1928, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin G. and Nora (Swisher) Izer.
Mrs. Leckron was a 1947 graduate of Hagerstown Senior High School. She was a member of the Maughansville Church and formerly in her early years she attended Trinity United Brethren Church. In her teenage years she was part of a Gospel Duet, known as “Two Jeans”, later she was a soloist at churches in the surrounding area. In the 1960’s she was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the State Line Ruritan Ladie’s Auxiliary, the loyal daughters for Old Home Week and the homemakers of Greencastle. Dorothy and her husband, Earl owned and operated Earl’s Market for 45 years. She loved selling Easter flowers and making fruit baskets during Christmas time. After retirement, their joy was taking bus trips throughout the U.S. and Canada and antiquing. She was happiest when she could watch her grand and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Sherry J. (Leckron) Moon and husband, Vic and Nelson R. Leckron; four grandchildren, Tara Moon, Jason Moon, Dana (Leckron) Hull, and Corey Leckron; 6 great-grandchildren, Brandon Brechbiel, Alesha (Brechbiel) Gembe, Logan Moon, Wyatt and Luke Hull, and Bailey Leckron; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Brooke Brechbiel, Avery and Axton Gembe, and Oaklynn Moon; a special thanks to her caregivers, Mary Rotz and Heather Duke.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by, her husband, Earl Leckron in 2003, whom she married March 28, 1948, in Hagerstown, MD and siblings, Charles Izer in infancy and brothers, Lauren, Robert, Ambrose, and Max Izer, and sisters, Helen Izer Myers, and Isabelle Izer Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 South Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA 17225, where Pastor Chad Carter will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in the Beautiful View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Greencastle-Antrim Old Home Week Association, P.O.
