Dorothy Helen Socha Mikrut, age 90, passed from this earth on January 19, 2025, to be with Our Lord. Dorothy was born on September 22, 1934 in Chicago to Michael and Mary Socha.
A lifelong resident of Chicago, Dorothy attended Kelly High School and worked in the banking industry in Downtown Chicago after graduation. It was on the Archer bus to work that she met her husband, Casimir (now deceased). They settled in St. Bede the Venerable Parish in Chicago for 56 years, where they were active members of the Parish and community.
Later in life she worked at Queen of Peace High School as the book store manager for many years where she formed many long lasting friendships with fellow sta and with the students.
Dorothy was also very committed to organizations involved in helping those with special needs including Alhambra, Special Olympics and the Howe Developmental Center.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim (the late Chris) Moore, Cindy (Bill) Milani, and Kathy (Steve) Van Spankeren. And her son Dan Mikrut. She was the proud Grandma to Chris (Julie), Mandy (Ryan), Billy, Joey, Kristin, Tom, Mary Claire, and Casey. And Great Grandma to Teagan, Berkley, Christopher, Kacey Mae and Gri n.
Viewing will be held at Rosary Hill Home, 9000 W. 81st Street, Justice, IL, on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 9:00 - 10:30 am. Due to limited space, a Private Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated beginning at 10:30 am. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois will follow.
