Dorothy Pearl Redifer was born November 6th, 1914 in Baltimore County, Maryland. She was the youngest of three children. Their mother was a strict, no nonsense, God loving woman, who passed this on to her children. And their father did whatever his wife said to do. In her early years Dorothy worked as a waitress and cashier at the food counter in Montgomery Wards and in 1952 she started working for an insurance company and worked there until her retirement in 1979. Dorothy and her sister Ruth, cared for their mother until she died in 1960. Dorothy cared for her sister until her death in 1991. In 1994 she moved to Copperas Cove with her cousin, Betty, and her husband, Bill Stone, Jr., from Maryland. Bill and Betty wanted to be closer to their son Bill, (Stoney) and his family, who lived in Kempner. They joined the Methodist Church in Copperas Cove where Dorothy was still a member. Dorothy said her secret to her long life was never being married, had no children and never drove a car or ever had a driver's license. Dorothy loved the Lord and read her Bible every morning and evening using a magnifying glass the last 5 to 6 years to read his word. Everyone she met she liked and they all loved her whether it was at Wal Mart, Lil Tex, or Bella Sera restaurants or the retirement home Stoney Brook, in Copperas Cove where she lived the last 3 years. She entered into Harbor Hospice on January 23 when she found out she had bladder cancer. Dorothy looked forward to them coming to visit her several times a week. The staff at Stoney Brook and many residents came by to say goodbye, as well as her friends from the church and Pastor Brad Slaten came to give her communion. Rest in Peace Dear Cousin Dorothy, you will be missed! 2nd cousin Carolynn Stone 3rd cousins Dawn Crager, Daniel Crager and Alisa Crager 4th cousins Joshua Crager and wife Cassidy, Shelby Collins, and Savannah Harper 5th cousins Brooklynn and Brylee Howard close dear friends Leonard and Linda Crager, their son, Christopher, his wife Huyen and their daughter, Hanna. Plus many, many friends
