Dorothy Schapker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by ZIEMER FUNERAL HOME-NORTH CHAPEL on Dec. 1, 2024.
Dorothy Sharon (Ham) Schapker passed away on November 28, 2024 at the age of 77. Sharon loved her family and was dedicated to her two sons, Jeron and Thomas.
Born on December 9, 1946 to Charles and Myrtle Ham, Sharon was always happiest when surrounded by family and friends for a meal, singing, and conversation.
She is survived by her former husband Jerome Schapker, sons Jeron and Thomas Schapker; brothers Ronald (Sue) Ham and Larry (Barbara) Ham; and several beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Hospitality, preparing delicious meals, and celebrating holidays and family events brought her so much joy, even when she lived in Gallatin TN, the Chicago suburbs, or Madison IN. Her home was always open to her family and friends.
Sharon was generous with her time, investing in others and in her community. When her children were young, Sharon dedicated countless hours to Evansville ARC as an advocate for the rights of children with disabilities. She also taught CCDD classes at St. Theresa Church.
In her professional life, Sharon was honored for her work with Coldwell Banker in the Chicago area, as well as her work in the Evansville area with Prudential Realty, ReMax Realty, and ERA Realty.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to Kelly and Kaylee Alexander for their dedicated support to Sharon and her sons, and to Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and kindness.
Visitation will from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Rd., Evansville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Vanderburgh County, 14400 Browning Rd., Evansville, IN 47725.
