Dorothy Mae Sevenski passed away surrounded by loved ones in her home on March 19, 2024.
She was born April 9, 1934, to Agnes Catherine and Theodore Fred Wallick and was raised on the family farm on Harvest Street in Elmira, MI. She started school in Elmira and continued to Gaylord St. Mary's High School where she graduated in 1952.
Dorothy first met her future husband, Larry Sevenski, at a basketball game between Boyne Falls and St. Mary's High School when Dorothy was 16 and Larry was 17. They continued to meet at free shows in the area and their relationship grew over the next 2 years where they would even help with each other's chores on the farm to spend more time together. The couple married on November 22, 1952, and moved to Lansing, MI, where Larry had started work. The following year they welcomed their only child, Lawrence Sevenski, to the family.
Once Lawrence was of school age Dorothy worked for the McKesson Company as a dispenser for pharmaceuticals. In 1966, they moved up north to be closer to family and bought a bar from Stanley Polous for their next career.
Over the next 57 years, Dorothy and Larry would be the proprietors of the Sevenski Inn, also known as Larry's Bar, with support from family members and friends. Over the years they met many wonderful people through their business and travels that created a very enjoyable and rewarding life.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Sevenski; parents, Theodore & Agnes Wallick; step-father, Stanley Dzwik; sister, Clara Marian Brille; sister, Anna Regina Jaruzal; brother, Fred Wallick; brother, Bernard Wallick; and sister, Florence Powers.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 71 years, Larry Sevenski; daughter-in-law, Julie Sevenski; four grandchildren, Shawn Sevenski, Jason (Darcie) Sevenski, Gregory (Rosanne) Sevenski and Emily Kasmer; and five great-grandchildren, Allison, Dylan, Nolan, Emmet and Calvin. Dorothy is further survived by her sister Alexandria "Elsie" (Richard) Matuszak.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at St. Thomas Church in Elmira, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Visitation will also be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at St. Thomas Church, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary being offered at 6:00 p.m.
