Dorothy Ann Smith a lifelong Beacon resident passed away peacefully at her home on October 7, 2024; at the age of 82. She was born on May 25, 1942, in Beacon, New York, daughter of the late Aaron and Bessie (Tomlins) Yerks. With an infinite love for animals, jigsaw puzzles and country music, she lived a simple life.
On June 29, 1963 at St. Luke Episcopal Church in Beacon, she married Edgar Smith; who predeceased her on December 27, 1999, after 36 years of marriage.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Audrey Henderson, and sister in-law Maria Yerks. Her three nieces Lisa (Greg) Strong, Tracy (Larry) Way, Heather Yerks, and several nieces and nephews. . Along with her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her son Stephen A. Smith, her sister Dolores Mazzacone, and her brother Aaron Yerks.
Her family will gather to remember and celebrate Dorothy’s life on October 11 2024 from 12pm to 1pm at the Libby Funeral Home, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, where a Celebration of Life at 1pm will be offered followed by interment to the Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
