Born on June 10, 1927, in Portland, Missouri, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Leroy and Anna (Gruber) Polacek. She lived a long and fulfilling life, marked by kindness and devotion to her family.
Dorothy was a dedicated mother who poured her heart into raising her children, always placing their needs before her own. She especially enjoyed playing bingo with friends, exploring new places through travel, and spending hours creating beautiful, embroidered tea towels and dish towels.
Those that remain to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mary Steward, Sharon Harrison, Linda Barnes-Holsman (Tony), Cindy Jett, Vicki Pierson (James), along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Starkey (Cathy).
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Steedman, MO, at 11:00 am with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251.

You will be truly missed 'Lil' Grandma, wish I could've got to have known you better! I will do what I can to continue to watch over the rest of the family!! I know you have people waiting for you, go home and have fun, just don't forget about us down here!!! Lol, I know you won't!!!
