Dorothy Mary "Edna" Swaney, 67, of Wann, Oklahoma, entered the gates of heaven on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

Edna was born February 12, 1958, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Henry Jake and Mary Ellen (Trent) Huston. She attended school in Lenapah, graduating high school in 1976. Shortly after she started her family.

Edna married the love of her life, William "Bill" Arthur Swaney Jr, on January 28, 1977, in Miami, Oklahoma, and they made their home in Independence, Kansas. Later they moved to Edna, Kansas, where they lived for 28 years. It was at that time in 2006 when Bill drove her out in the "middle of nowhere" located east of Wann to show her the site of their future home, although she did not know he had already purchased the land. She might have been skeptical at first, but she grew to love their home in the country.

In addition to their children, Edna and Bill shared their home with numerous foster children between the years 2007-2015, some of whom they adopted. Edna had a love for children, and she opened a daycare in her home. Other jobs she held through the years include working as a welder for Halliburton for a few years and in other jobs for short time periods, as well. Her most important job to her was as a stay-at-home mom.

Edna was a member of the Bible Baptist Church for several years.

She was very creative and some of her hobbies included sewing, ceramics, painting, and crafting. She enjoyed flower gardening and loved her animals.

Edna was quiet and loving. By her example she taught her children to work and to give to others. Her husband and family said she was "perfect," even though she lovingly referred to Bill as the "Rotten Old Man."

Edna's survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, William "Bill" Arthur Swaney Jr.; six children, Jessica Swaney, Ashleigh Wahl and husband Kenny, Dylan Swaney, Jeramiah Swaney, Brianna Swaney, and Levi Swaney; three brothers, Lloyd Huston, Tom Huston, and John Huston; five grandchildren, Mircedes Cannon and husband Manny, Monica Luker and husband Jarrett, Travis Wahl, Caiden Davis, and Rydal Wahl; two great-grandchildren, Jase Cannon, and Kye Luker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Jake and Mary Ellen Huston; a brother Willy Huston; a sister, Melissa Hix; and a son, William Arthur Swaney III.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made for the purchase of Bibles through the Bible Baptist Church, 16170 State Hwy 123, Bartlesville, OK 74006.

Edna's family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Davis Family Funeral Home, 113 S. Osage Ave., Dewey, OK 74029, 918-534-3030. Come and go visitation will also be held that day from 1-5 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2025, at the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Steelman officiating. Burial will follow at the Wann Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
