Dorothy Virginia Umstot, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 24, 2024, at Cornerstone Hospice of Tavares, Florida. Born on June 11, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland, Dorothy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Dorothy married Donovan Umstot at the age of 19 and went on to build a successful career working in banking and with a yacht club. She cherished her family and friends and found immense joy in celebrating her 90th birthday surrounded by loved ones.
Dorothy had a passion for reading and solving puzzles. As a member of the 5th Communications Group from the Korean War, she attended reunions and valued the camaraderie of her peers. Known for her sharp sense of humor and unwavering commitment to family, she will be remembered for always putting others first.

She is survived by her daughter Donna Slack and son-in-law Jeffrey Slack, with whom she shared a home for 27 years, as well as her daughter Deborah Miller and son-in-law Gary Miller from Pennsylvania. Dorothy was a proud grandmother to Anita, Maria, Steven, Megan, Daniel, and Jesse. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma, and her husband, Donovan.
A service will be held at a later date.
