Dorothy "Dottie" (Driscoll) "Dottie Driscoll" West

Dorothy "Dotty" (Driscoll) West, 93, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Erie, Dotty was born on August 3, 1931, to the late George and Helen (O'Neil) Driscoll.

Dotty was a devout Catholic and avid reader. She worked at Saint Vincent Hospital and after retirement volunteered in the gift shop. Summer Sunday's were spent at the cottage with family and friends, where generations gathered for laughter, stories, food, and fun. Dotty was known for her humor and light-hearted spirit.

Dotty's most cherished role was mother to six daughters, grandmother to 28, great-grandmother to 63, and great-great-grandmother to 5. Her super power was making each one feel as if they were her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Ronald West and daughter Jane Pol, sons-in-law John Pol and Daniel Oler Sr., granddaughter Kelly Ann Pol, and sisters Mary Foessett, Nancy Abel, and Patty Trapp.

Dotty leaves behind a legacy of love with her large family. She is survived by daughters: Mary Pat Vlahos, Kathy Smith (Brad), Sue Oler Minarich (Dan Minarich), Diane Falk (Tom), and Amy West Poley (Sean). She is also survived by her sister and lifelong best friend, Jean Nies; her many grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends--each of whom carries a piece of her heart. Dotty was, simply put, unforgettable.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 29, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 E. 38th Street. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 2701 East Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dotty's memory to the to the charity of your choice or the Chosen Mission Project, 3638 W. 26th St. Erie, PA.
