Dorothy H. Wood

Dorothy H. Wood – Age 92, wife of the late Stewart Wood died peacefully Tuesday, November 12 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY, September 5, 1932, a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Fitzgerald) Helmsteadt and was raised in Brooklyn and moved to Billerica in 1971.
Dorothy was an active communicant of St. Theresa Church and was a member of the Women's Club, the Billerica Garden Club and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother known for her kindness and generosity. She enjoyed many activities including traveling with her beloved husband and doing charitable work with local organizations. She looked forward to meeting her good friends for coffee, conversation and laughs after church on Sundays. We will all miss our mother, Grammie and Great Grammie.
She is survived by her daughter, Marylou Wood of Billerica; her sons, Charles Wood and his wife Laura of Tyngsborough, Gary Wood and his wife Sharon of Tewksbury; James Wood and his wife Linda of Greer, SC and Paul Wood and his wife Christine of Chelmsford. She is also survived by her loving 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, November 15 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 12 p.m. Her burial will take place at the Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to St. Vincent de Paul Society, One Grace Ave., Billerica, MA 01821.
