Dorwin Dwayne "Turkey" Lawson of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on May 28, 1963, in Hazard, Kentucky, he was the third child and youngest son of the late Carl Gene and Susan Lawson.

Dorwin, or "Turkey" as he was affectionately known, was a dedicated worker with 19 years of employment with U.S. Shoe abd 15 years of employment with Morgan's Foods.

He was a man of simple joys and a big heart. He had a love for the outdoors and spent many happy hours fishing, camping, and discovering new roads with his brother and friends. He had a special appreciation for antique cars and professional wrestling, and a great love of music.

He was a gifted cook, known for his passion for baking-his kitchen often filled with the warm scent of homemade treats that he loved to share with family, friends, and co-workers. His generous spirit and kind nature brightened the lives of those who knew him.

Most of all, Turkey cherished time with his family, friends, and his beloved pets. His loyalty, sense of humor, and contagious laugh will be missed deeply by all who were lucky enough to know him.

He is survived by his siblings: La-Jiness (Teresa) Lawson of Scottsburg, Allen (Janice) Lawson of Scottsburg, and Sabrina (Kevin) Voss of Scottsburg. He also leaves behind eight nieces and nephews and twelve great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Carl Gene and Susan Lawson.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Turkey's life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Scottsburg. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
