Dot Bowdon

Dorothy (Dot) Raxsdale Bowdon, age 92, passed away on December 28, 2025 in Austin, Texas.

Dot was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on October 15, 1933, the youngest of nine children of John and Josephine Raxsdale. Her father died when she was only four, in the midst of the Great Depression. With help from her beloved Uncle Hugh, Dot was able to attend LSU and earn an education degree in 1953. She married Bill Bowdon in 1955.

Dot outlived her eight older siblings. Bill passed away in February, four months shy of their 70th anniversary. She is survived by her sons Richard, Brad, and Bob, daughters-in-law Melody and Allison, grandchildren Darrell, Spencer, Holly, Andrea, and Benjamin, great-grandchildren Walter and Adaline, and many nieces and nephews.

Dot dedicated herself to being a faithful Christian, and a devoted wife and mother … not easy considering the family moved eight times in their first two decades of marriage. She made friends everywhere she went, always taking an interest in other people's lives. In recent years, Alzheimer's disease gradually took her memory, then her speech, but her joyful spirit and love of people continued to radiate.

Her memorial service will be held at 2 pm CST on January 17th at Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park, with internment to follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, where she will rejoin Bill.
