Doug Deer Sr.
Feb. 6, 1942 – June 2, 2025

Graveside services for Doug Deer, Sr., 83 of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Gans Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Deer was born on Feb. 6, 1942, in Claremore, to Selva (Douglass) Burnett and Raymond Amos Deer. He passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025 in Sallisaw.
He was raised in Okemah where he graduated high school. He was married to Sharron Jean (Palmer) Deer on March 29, 1963 in Muskogee.
He was a supervisor at Southwestern Bell/AT&T for 34 years. He was a Ham Radio operator with call sign W5NQ/WB5HLR and loved sailing.
Survivors are wife, Sharron of the home; one daughter, Rachelle Deer of Sallisaw; one grandchild, Aspen Rose Farmer and Joseph of Van Buren, Ark.; one great-grandchild, Evelyn Elaine Farmer; one sister, Judith Benedict of Haymarket, Va.; two brothers, David Walkup and Brenda of Okemah and Johnny Burnett and Pam of Choctaw; two sisters-in-law, Carlene Elliott and Don of Reedsville, N.C. and Charlotte Palmer of Muskogee; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Doug Deer, Jr.; his mother and step-father, Selva and Verlin E. Burnett; two sisters, Edna and Roseanna; grandparents, Henry R. and Elva Douglass; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pearl (Styles) and Carol Marvin Palmer; sister-in-law, Judy Hill and Duane; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Palmer.
