Doug Michael Kammeier, 74, of Coralville passed away on May 24, 2024.
Doug, son of Kendall and Lucille (Mies) Kammeier, was born on November 26, 1949 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged. Doug then went on to pursue a degree in neuroscience at The University of Iowa. He spent his career doing a variety of jobs with his most recent job at the time of retirement was at the ACT in Iowa City.
Doug enjoyed fishing and camping in his free time. He was a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan which can explain why he decided to attend a football camp just to be able to watch the team practice. Doug was also a member of the trivia team with family and friends, a Fews Screws Lose.
He is survived by his former spouse, Lynn Kammeier, his daughter Natasha Marie Newcomb and her son Christopher David, his son Theodore David Newcomb and his children Cylar Michael, Zoey Jayde, Autumn Rose, Abel David Joseph, and Jackson David.
Doug was preceded in death by his son Beau Zabel, and his parents.
Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held.
