We are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Douglas Wayne Stage, 51, on January 2, 2023. He enjoyed spending time with family, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and supporting his children in their extracurriculars. Doug worked at Kimberly-Clark for 28 years and was a proud graduate of Michigan Tech, majoring in Chemical Engineering. He was also a leader for Capabilities First, a Kimberly-Clark organization that helps students with disabilities through the interview process, job search, and acclimatation into their new place of employment.
He was generous, supportive, and kindhearted to everyone he met. Doug was a loving father and husband and will be deeply missed. Doug leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Laura (51), son Adam (23), and daughters Adrienne (21) & Autumn (20). He is preceded in death by his grandparents Arthur & Bette Corey, and Ted & Sue Stage. Surviving family members include parents Fred & Arda Stage of Rapid River, MI, and siblings Paul (Karen) Stage, Julie (Garin) Griebel, and Todd Stage.

My first memory of Doug was when we met at a disability conference then he invited me to speak at Kimberly Clarke. He also introduced me to Cosmo. He wanted me to come meet his family. We talk about his family all the time he was so proud of you all. Here is a picture he sent me. He also sent me the Hunter Pinke story. We always connected to see how we could help with recruiting employees with disabilities. I miss him so much!!

My condolences to the family. Doug was a wonderful person - so caring and thoughtful. I worked with him many years ago and always loved to catch up every few years to talk about our K-C journeys. He was so proud of his kids and loves to share their big milestones. You will be missed, Doug.

I knew Doug from the time he started at Munising for Kimberly-Clark, we worked together as engineers in the same department. Doug was an even-tempered, effective engineer and asset leader. That he was well-liked by his coworkers is evident from the pranks they pulled on him. He told me many times about one prank, for which a lot of people would have become angry, but Doug saw the humor in it and knew it meant he was part of the team. He always laughed as he was telling me the story. We both transferred to KC in Neenah in 2001. In 2005, there was a big layoff in my department, Doug was in Family Care and vouched for me, allowing me to join Family Care and save my employment. Doug was a compassionate man; he helped many people in a variety of ways during the time I knew him. Doug and I always talked about our families when we crossed paths at work, he was so proud of his family. Doug was a good man; the world could use more Doug's. My most sincere condolences to Doug's family.

Laura, Adam, Autumn and Adrienne, my sincere condolences on Doug´s untimely passing. I worked with Doug since he came from Munising to Neenah. Even after I left KC in 2018, Doug always reached out to me when he was passing through Minneapolis. I last saw Doug in July 2021 and I will cherish the time I got to spend with him. I hope the many memories of Doug as a loving husband and father will warm your hearts through this very difficult time.

I am so sorry to hear the news, and I am praying for your family. Doug was a great friend and co-worker for many, many years. It is really hard to believe that he is gone. I had just been talking to him that prior Thursday when he was catching me up on everything going on with his family. He was so proud of his kids and what they had accomplished! Again, praying for your whole family in this time of grieving.

Laura, Gwen and I are heartbroken and so sorry for you and your family´s loss. Doug was one of my first contacts with Family Care R&E when I worked at the Marinette Mill. He was very supportive and a good mentor. After I transferred to Neenah I worked on many product improvements with Doug and the team that I was on. I am going to miss the many talks about football and how Adam was doing. His legacy will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Doug

Doug was a force for good and positively impacted anyone he met. I first met Doug at Munising where we became friends. Doug was genuine, family-first, and wanted to help all around him. Doug was liked and respected by everyone he befriended or worked with. I will always remember the pride he had for his family, friends, and community. Me and my family give condolences and prayers to the entire Stage family. His family can be proud of all the good he influenced for many people. You are missed, my friend.

I am sorry for your loss and send my deepest condolences to you. I am so shocked by the news.
I met Doug through KC in the UK when he came to England to support improvement on a project about 20 years ago.
He truly was a lovely, family orientated and caring person. Doug kept in contact with me all through these years. We shared pictures of our family and what studies they were taking on as they grew. I spoke with Doug in December which I will cherish this timing.

Still in shock over Doug's death. What a force for good he was, touching the lives of everyone he knew with kindness and care. He never missed an opportunity to share his children's accomplishments or catch up on doings in our hometown of Rapid River. I will miss those opportunities and our friendship and am so sorry he will miss the weddings, grandchildren, and other happenings in his family. May God bless his family and friends and find peace in the great memories.

We were honored to meet Doug and Laura during senior day (game) at Northwestern. His smile and personality could light up a room. I told him I wished we could have met earlier. He was so proud of his son and excited to be a Wildcat! He had only kind things to say about my son and the team. My condolences to the family. Praying for strength during this difficult time. I'm stunned and so sorry for your loss. I worked with Doug through MTU/student disability services. He was always so generous with his time and talents, and did so much to grow KC's support for disabled employees. I know how proud he was of his family, always speaking of them with love. May his memory be a blessing .

Laura and family: my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I was lucky enough to know the Stage family thru Fred at a younger age and then worked with Doug in Munising where I learned Doug was as genuine as his Dad. Our community was sad to see Doug and his family leave years ago to head south of Munising and now extremely sad to hear of his passing. Doug was the type of person you wanted as a friend and as a coworker. Hard working honest kind man. God Bless and may you find peace in knowing Doug had such a positive impact on so many people.

Laura and family... So incredibly sorry to hear the passing of Doug. I will always cherish our discussions before, during and after football games when Adam and Jared played football in high school. Will never forget the sparkle in his eyes and smile after we would solve world problems during our talks. God Bless. Rod Hamilton and family.

Laura, Adam, Autumn, and Adrienne, Words cannot express how sorry I am that Doug is gone so soon. I´m in complete shock. Doug and I graduated from MTU together and worked for KC in Munising and Neenah. He was always the well grounded, head set straight, good ole boy that made the right decisions. He lead with integrity always and cared deeply for his friends. Since I´ve moved from Darboy, we only touched base every now and then with hopes to get together once my younger kids were a bit older...I never ever thought that I wouldn´t have that opportunity. Doug will always be remembered for his kind spirit and smile. I loved Doug as a great friend. I pray that all of you will feel God´s peace and comfort during this difficult time. I´m sure Doug is siting with Jesus at this moment. Hugs to all of you,
Sheila (Zehr) Kaufman
