Douglas "Waco" Ronald Williams, a cherished soul known for his kindness, generosity, and selfless nature, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 62. Born on April 22, 1963, in Washington, Indiana, Douglas's life was one of love, family, and service.
Douglas's journey began as a farm boy at heart, surrounded by the nurturing love of his parents, Ronald Aaron Williams and Patricia Cresgy, and the guiding influence of his late grandparents, Lawrence and Lillian Williams. He grew up alongside his siblings, forming a bond that would last a lifetime. Although he was preceded in death by his father, mother, beloved brother Peter John Williams, and brother-in-law Rick Dixon, Douglas's legacy of love continues through his remaining family.
After graduating from Washington High School, Douglas proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1981 to 1985. His dedication to service didn't end with his military career; he retired from Crane Naval Warfare Center, where he worked diligently as a boiler operator and a K-9 Officer. Douglas's heart found its match on December 10, 1988, when he married the love of his life, April (Martindale) Williams. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and an abundance of love. Their union blessed them with three sons, Ryan (Maddelynn) Williams, Samuel (Kay) Williams, and Joshua (Eva) Williams, who each inherited their father's strength of character and zest for life. Douglas's pride and joy extended to his two grandchildren, Kaden Huber and Remington Williams.
Douglas's love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. An avid outdoorsman, he reveled in hunting, fishing, and riding Harleys, often sharing these passions with his sons. His spirit was most at home in nature, where he found peace and contentment. A member of the Waco Church of Christ, Douglas lived his faith through his actions, embodying the church's teachings of compassion and community. As a lifetime member of the Washington American Legion and VFW, Douglas's sense of camaraderie and patriotism shone brightly. He was a beacon of support and friendship, always ready to lend a hand or share a word of encouragement. His mantra, "be happy," was not only a reflection of his own approach to life but also an invitation to others to find joy in every moment.
Douglas is survived by his devoted wife, April; his loving sons Ryan (Maddelynn), Samuel (Kay), and Joshua (Eva); his cherished grandchildren Kaden and Remington; his caring brother, Keith (Teresa) Williams; his dear sisters, Beth Dixon and Susie "Elverna" (Trig) Durnil; and his brother-in-law, Denny (Julie) Martindale. His memory will also be treasured by the many nieces and nephews who adored their uncle.
Douglas will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind to live fully, love deeply, and always, always "be happy."
