Robert "Bob" Dale Davis, of Bloomington and formerly of Bloomfield, a cherished patriarch and devoted family man passed away peacefully on, Friday, October 17, 2025 in Greenfield at the age of 81. Born on May 5, 1944, in Indianapolis, IN, Bob's life was one of a loving, faith-filled, and selfless nature.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army. He held a fulfilling career at Crane, where he was a Blocker and Bracer and retired in the Woodshop. Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was deeply involved in his community. He was a member of good standing in the Masonic Lodge, a volunteer with Job's Daughters, a Cub Scout Leader, and a Court Appointed Special Advocate. Bob's commitment to service was further exemplified by his role as a foster parent alongside his beloved wife, Betsy, giving a loving home to many children in need.
Family was the cornerstone of Bob's life. He is survived by his children, Duane (Betty) Davis, Rusty (Mickie) Hansen, Faith (Chris) Davis Markley, Don (Lisa) Hansen, Desta (Mickey) Moore, and Danny Davis. Bob's legacy continues through his grandchildren, David Davis,Kara (Drew) Wetzel, Jonathan Davis, Corey (Kenzie) Ricketts, Kolin Hansen, Logan Hansen, Robert D. Davis, Saphire Davis, David Davis, Corey (Chloey) Richardson, Tyler Moore, Tobey (Christie) Moore, Michele (Mikie) Smith, and his great-grandchildren, Eleza Moore-Ricketts, Mia Wetzel, Jessy Ricketts, Hunter Wetzel, Oaklee Ricketts, Lincoln Davis, Tatum Davis, Remington Davis. He also leaves behind his sister, Pat Knapp.
Bob was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife, Betsy; Grandson Cameron Dale Ricketts; Great-Grandson, Lucas Ricketts; Father, Herschel Davis; Mother, Clara Davis; ; Brothers, Herschel Davis, and Jim Davis; Sisters, Roberta Clark, Shirley Loveless, Lois Goodwin, and Jacqueline Williams.
Bob's love for his family was unparalleled. He was a beacon of strength and support, always putting their needs above his own. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Bob's Lutheran faith was a guiding force throughout his life, providing him with comfort and purpose.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at Walnut Grove Church, 184 RR3 in Bloomfield on Friday, October 24th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow with military honors. Friends and family may visit at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
