Barbara J. Barger, a beacon of love and loyalty, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at the age of 78, in her hometown of Bloomington, Indiana, where she was also born on January 6, 1947.
Barbara was the cherished wife of Tom Barger, with whom she shared a profound and enduring love. She was born to the late William and Ruth Voliva and grew up alongside her brothers, Phillip and James Robert Voliva, and her sisters, Marilyn Roach and Judith Dubois, who predeceased her. Barbara's life was further enriched by the close bond she shared with her in-laws, the late Harry and Sharon Barger, and the joy she found in the company of her many nieces and nephews.
From a young age, Barbara's caring nature was evident. She had a special fondness for her baby dolls, a love that reflected her nurturing spirit. This same spirit was the cornerstone of her marriage, as she adored her husband, Tom, with every fiber of her being. Her loyalty was not just a trait but a guiding principle that defined her relationships with family and friends. She worshiped faithfully at the Gospel Assembly Church for over 30 years.
Barbara's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love and loyalty. Those who knew her were touched by her kindness and enjoyed her tenacious, sometimes ornery, personality.
A visitation for Barbara will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow visitation at 1:00 pm with Pastor Cary Cohenour officiating. The burial will take place at Clear Creek Cemetery following services.
