Bonnie Boruff Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Bonnie Jean Boruff, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 88 in Ellettsville, Indiana. Born on July 6, 1937, in the quaint town of Bull Creek, Kentucky, Bonnie's life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, family, and service.
Bonnie's journey led her to Ellettsville, Indiana, where she established a life marked by devotion to her family and her community. She found joy and purpose in her work, dedicating many years to RCA and Indiana University, where she served as a housekeeper for the Delta Zeta Sorority. Her tireless work ethic and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her. A woman of deep faith, Bonnie was an active and beloved member of the Ellettsville First Baptist Church. She contributed her time and talents to the Sunshine Sunday School class, the bereavement committee, and was a dedicated member of the American Baptist Women. Her God-fearing spirit was an inspiration to many, and her involvement in church activities reflected her commitment to living a life of service and compassion. Bonnie's interests were a reflection of her sweet southern roots. She took great pleasure in collecting rabbit figurines with each telling a story of her gentle nature. Her love for black-eyed Susan flowers was evident in the care she took in nurturing them, their bright yellow blooms symbolizing the warmth and light she brought to the world.
Described by those who knew her as loving, faith-filled, and thoughtful, Bonnie's presence was a comfort to all. Her legacy is carried on by her loving family: daughter Melinda Hope Richardson, son John (Marlena) Boruff; a special chosen daughter, Tawana White who has always been there for the family; her cherished grandchildren, Jonathon (Kim) Boruff, Jason Rogers, Adam (Rayna Young) Boruff, Ryan (Courtney Harris) Voigtman, Jessica (Danny Bowling) Gonzalez, and Kristin (Dustin) Jones; and her adored great-grandchildren, Jonathon Boruff, Jr., Aaron Miller, Julian Miller, Logan Boruff, Jordan Gonzalez, Waylan Young, Marshall Voigtman, Adriana Primo, Ember Smith, Olivia Voigtman, Divina Bowlen, Charlotte Voigtman, Abigail Boruff and Korban Jones. Bonnie also leaves behind her sisters, Mary Ruth Davis and Genople Empson and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Beachel and Edna Smith; husband of sixty-two years, Frank Boruff; her siblings, Helen Briles and Sophia Mobley; and her son-in-law, Mike Richardson and brother-in-law, Ron Davis.
The family would like to thank the nurses of Southerncare Hospice for helping in Bonnie's final care and her special niece Becca Mobley for her dedicated care.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 11:00 am at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington with Rev Mark Villanova officiating.
