Of Waupaca, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 24, 1946 to the late Stephen and Veronica (O'Dea) Avgerinos. He married Barbara Boyer on March 17, 1966. Doug was a veteran, serving in the Army. He worked for many years at the Waupaca Foundry. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Doug enjoyed socializing with friends, he never met a stranger. He loved to fish and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He was always busy, having a project to work on. He and Barb played Yahtzee every day.

He will be sadly missed by his wife: Barb; daughters: Christine Schumacher and Jennifer (Matthew) Hatfield; grandsons: Jamison, Tyler, Chase and Noah; siblings: Cathy (Dave) Golke, Steve (Eileen) Avgerinos, Patricia (Bernie) Duffy and Ronni (Mike) Schramm; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Denise and brothers, Richard and George.

The Memorial Service will be on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 4 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home. The visitation will be on Sunday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established.
