Douglas Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Aug. 8, 2024.
Douglas L. Davis, 62, passed away on August 5, 2024. He was born on April 16, 1962 to Paul Gordon Davis and Eva Lynn Davis in Princeton, Kentucky.
Doug worked at Gibbs Die Casting for 21 years, where he was known for his dedication and hard work. Before his time at Gibbs, he worked with excavating machinery at a coal mine. Doug had a passion for baking, and his family and friends were often treated to his amazing cakes, bourbon balls, and peanut butter and chocolate fudge desserts, all made from scratch. His dream was to open his own food truck, where he could share his delicious creations with the community. He was a great provider, a jack of all trades, and a collector of many things. He was straightforward and no-nonsense, always clear about where he stood. Above all, Doug loved his family more than anything. He is remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His matter-of fact attitude, candid wit, and culinary talents will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Doug is survived by his wife Debbie Davis; children Amber Johnston (AJ Bennett), Christopher Johnston (Maria); grandchildren Abby, Ava, Bria, Bentley, and Benjamin; siblings Paul G. Davis (Sarah), Cara Lynette Mincey and Russell Lee Davis; nieces and nephews Hugh G. "HG" Davis (Virginia), Samantha Rae Davis, Richard K. Mincey, Eva Patricia Morgan, Ellie Lynette Morgan, Richard Paul Mincey, Noah Mincey, Nehemiah Abraham Mincey, Amari Davis, Jaylee Davis, and Cameron Davis.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Paul G. and Eva L. Davis and niece Whitley Lynn Davis.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service at 11am on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home Shepherd Chapel Mausoleum with a burial to directly follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
