Douglas W. Farley, Jr., 79, of St. Augustine, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024.
Doug was a devoted husband, father, and friend, and a cherished member of The Village Church, where he served as treasurer for over 20 years. His commitment to his faith and community was unwavering, reflecting his generous spirit and dedication to helping others.
Professionally, Doug spent the last two decades of his career as the CFO for LC Gaskins Construction, where his leadership and expertise were deeply respected. A proud graduate of Auburn University, he earned his MBA with honors, demonstrating his commitment to excellence in all endeavors.
An avid fisherman, Doug found joy in nature and the tranquility of the water. He also had a passion for gardening and cooking, often sharing his culinary creations with family and friends. In his home workshop, he enjoyed woodworking, crafting items that will be cherished by loved ones for years to come. As a Shriner, Doug was dedicated to philanthropy and community service, embodying the values of compassion and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas W. Farley Sr. and Lillian Quarles, and his stepfather, Rober Joyce. Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Ellen Farley; daughters, Trent Farley and Robin Farley Hartman; brother, Robert Joyce; grandchildren, Maggie and Grace Hartman and Bradley Lude; and great-grandchildren, Audrey and Nora Lude
A Memorial Service to celebrate Doug's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024, at The Village Church, located at 4229 Pacetti Rd, St. Augustine, FL 32092.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doug's name to The American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or The Village Church (www.the-village-church.com).
