Douglas G. Folger, a cherished family man and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, in
Carmel, NY. Born on January 8, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Peter and Johanna (Haeusler) Folger, Douglas's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family.
Douglas graduated from high school and soon after proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career with the New York City Transit Authority, where he began as a bus driver and later became a Dispatcher.
In his personal life, Douglas was married to the love of his life, his late wife, Patricia (Hartigan) Folger, who passed away in 2001. Together, they raised a loving family, including their children Nancy, and John (Jec), and the late Douglas and Thomas. Douglas was a pillar of strength and support for his family, and his absence will be deeply felt by his treasured grandchildren, Angela (Bryce), Louis, Alexandra (Ryan), Alyssa (Benjamin), Drew, John Jr., Thomas, and Michael.
Douglas is also survived by several dear nieces, nephews, and cousins who will hold his memory close. Predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, the late Warren (Rose Mary), Arline (Bob), Lorraine (Julien), Clara (Rocco), and Joyce, he is now at peace with them all.
Known for being exceptionally handy, Douglas could often be found in his garden, leaf-blowing Champlain Dr or tinkering around the house. His love for his grandchildren was unparalleled and he cherished every moment spent with them. Douglas' zest for life was evident in his hobbies, which included visiting casinos to play the slot machines and enjoying a good game of bingo with friends.
Douglas will be remembered not only for his service to his country and his dedication to his work but also for the joy and laughter he brought to the lives of all who knew him. Douglas' life reflected the values he held dear, and his memory will leave a lasting impact on those he leaves behind.
