Douglas Gilmore of Fayette, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026 following a brief illness. Doug was born on January 9, 1947, in Albion, Michigan, to Richard and Shirley (Tech) Gilmore.
Doug was a 1965 graduate of Manchester High School in Manchester, Michigan. After graduation Doug proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. Doug worked throughout his life at L.R. Smoke and Sons Trucking, Mettaloy, Fayette Tubular Products and TRW Automotive. He enjoyed just hanging out in his garage and visiting friends and family. Doug was also a long time NASCAR and Detroit Tigers fan.
Left to cherish Doug's memory are Gloria, his loving wife of 37 years; sons, Rick (Amanda) Gilmore of Montpelier, Ohio, Dan (Amanda) Gilmore of Hudson, Michigan, Step-sons, Jeff (Tina) Parkhurst of Fayette, Ohio, and Jamie Parkhurst of Morenci, Michigan; grandchildren, Zachery Hunt, Meagan Gilmore, Margie Grant, Daniel Gilmore Jr., Quentin Gilmore, Lacey Alvarez and Joe Alvarez; seven great-grandchildren; brother, James Gilmore of Jackson, Michigan; sisters, Peg (Ken) Parr of Manchester, Michigan, Elaine (Brad) Stegg of Adrian, Michigan; sister-in-law, Linda (Sam) Newell; brothers-in-law, Jim (Elsie) Cantrell and Dan (Rae Jean) Cantrell; several nieces and nephews; and life long friend, Dan (Rose) Handy of Eden, North Carolina.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Renee Gilmore; brother, Ed Gilmore; sisters-in-law, Tonya Gilmore and Rosie Gilmore, Rosie Jones, Nancy Atwell and Cathy Cantrell; mother and father-in-law, Ed and Helen Cantrell; brothers-in-law, Ed Cantrell, Larry Cantrell and John Atwell.
A celebration of life for Doug will be held a later date.
His arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, 860 W. Mulberry, Bryan, OH.
