Douglas C. Gordon, 94, passed away Friday afternoon, July 25th , at his home with his loving family by his side.
Douglas was born November 12, 1930, in South Hammond, son of Benjamin and Irene Gordon. He graduated from Hammond High School and as a young man ran the family dairy farm in the Town of Hammond.
He married Shirley MacMartin on September 11, 1954, in Ogdensburg and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Doug worked many years for Crowley Foods in LaFargeville, NY. He served on the Hammond School Board for some time.
During his life he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and he especially enjoyed traveling with Shirley during their retirement.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons: James, Maconedon, NY; Thomas (Beverly), Medway, MA; and Mark (Deborah), Chelsea, AL, along with four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Anita DeLeys. Per Doug’s wishes, there will be no services.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hammond Fire & Rescue Squad, 300 Lake St, Hammond, NY 13646.
