Douglas A. Gregory, 63 of Greene Township, formally from Corry, died on Saturday March 23, 2024 surrounded by his family. Heaven gained a gentle soul.
Doug was born December 14, 1960 in Erie, a son of Grant and Jean (Williams) Gregory.
In 1969, the Gregory family bought a campground in Elgin, PA. Doug was merely 10 years old, but dedicated himself to working alongside his dad; brother, David; and cousin, Keith. Their team mowed, parked trailers, and had time for building memories and having plenty of fun. The family eventually moved to Elgin, near Corry, and Doug worked at the family business, Willow Springs Campground, until the time of his graduation from Corry High School in 1979. Doug studied welding at Vo-Tech in Corry and initiated his career at Rogers Structural Steel in Corry, applying his knowledge and skills. Doug transitioned to Corry Manufacturing, dedicating nearly twenty years of service from 1984-2003. While employed at Corry Manufacturing, Doug also studied Mechanical Engineering at Penn State Behrend, receiving an Associate of Science Degree in 1998. Rounding out his professional career, Doug also worked at Joy Manufacturing in Franklin, PA and, most recently, had been employed at General Electric in Erie.
Doug had a special way of connecting with his loved ones - often creating long-lasting memories through quality time and shared interests. Doug was an avid outdoorsman who could be found hunting each year with his dad, as well as many uncles and cousins, in the mountains at the family camp in Bitumen, PA. He also shared his love of hunting with his daughters. Doug enjoyed the thrill of four-wheeling accompanied by his daughters and his friends. With his cousins, a shared motorhead mentality meant bonding over car projects. Doug loved woodworking and doing puzzles with his father. But his most cherished role, was being the father to his daughters; Doug was a great girl-dad.
In addition to his father, Grant Gregory; he was preceded in death by a brother, David Gregory in 1976; by all of his grandparents; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Doug will be greatly missed by his family which includes his mother, Jean C. Williams Gregory; three daughters, Haley O' Connor (Joe), Shelby Gregory (James), and Paige Gregory; two sisters, Darcy Snyder (Bob), Diane Dunkelman (Tom); 3 grandchildren; Bode, Scarlett and Radian Barrett; several nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Women's Care Center of Erie, 4408 Peach Street, Suite 202, Erie, Pa 16509.
Friends may call on Wednesday March 27, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Edder Funeral Home Inc. 309 Main St. E. Girard, PA. The following day, Thursday, visitation at the East Lake Road Alliance Church, 4500 E. Lake Rd. Erie, PA begins at 10:00 am. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
