Douglas Paul "Captain Doug" Kozan

Douglas Paul Kozan, 52, a resident of Lake Rosemound, died on January 4, 2025. There will be a service/celebration of life Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Lake Rosemound Inn, 10473 Lindsey Lane, St. Francisville, LA 70775 at 2:00 pm. He is survived by his daughter, Mya Jeaux Kozan; sister Margaret "Amie" Kozan; and brother David Wayne Kozan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Paula Kornegay Kozan, and his father, Wayne Kozan. He proudly served in the US Coast Guard, held a degree in finance from Louisiana State University, and was a graduate of Woodlawn High School, 1990, where he competed in cross-country.
Fondly known as "Captain Doug" to those in the Lake Rosemound area of West Feliciana Parish, where he owned a general store and bait shop of the same name, Douglas was an avid fisherman and bow hunter, a voracious reader, and a fantastic cook. Having been stationed in Venice, LA while serving our country in the United States Coast Guard, Douglas knew the South Louisiana tributaries like the back of his hand and fished them often in his younger years.
Exceptionally smart, Douglas never lacked an opinion nor met a stranger. His daughter Mya was the light of his life. She describes him as a loving dad who enjoyed taking her fishing and cooking her great meals. Douglas will be greatly missed by those who loved him dearly-family, friends, and patrons of the Lake Rosemound institution that was Captain Doug's.
