Douglas Rice Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Funeral Home on Dec. 22, 2025.
Douglas Richard Rice, Age 70, of Toddville, IA, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, from a brain aneurysm, surrounded by his family and friends.

A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 9 AM until service time at 11 AM with Signe Munson-Henderson officiating. A livestream of the service will be available on the Cedar Memorial Park website under Doug's obituary, under the video tab starting on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11 AM. A reception will be immediately following the service at the Cedar Memorial Park Family Center and Library.

Doug was born on November 16, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, IA and grew up in Cedar Rapids, attending Johnson Elementary, McKinley Junior High and graduated from Washington High School, the greatest Class of 1974. He received his bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. Doug's greatest joys were spending time with his family and friends and especially doing anything with his grandkids. His last job at O'Connell's Transport allowed Doug to pursue his other great passions for helping people and turning strangers into friends.

He was an amazing man and his loss will be deeply felt by many including his life partner, Laura Germaine; his son and daughter, Jacob (Amanda) Germaine, Carly (Jamie) Goldbeck; his grandchildren, Colton and Brooklyn Germaine, Amelia, Natalie, and Sierra Goldbeck; his sisters, Joanne (Rod) Dunnick, and Barbara Trom; and his dear friends, Signe and John Henderson, Bill and Kim Jordan. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jane Rice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
