Douglas Walter Scott, Jr.

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family early Monday morning September 9, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease and Lewey Body Dementia. Wally was born in Salt Lake City on December 13, 1948 to Doug Scott and Deanna (Hope) Scott. He spent his early life growing up in the Avenues area of Salt Lake City until his family moved to Canterbury Drive above Foothill. He graduated from East High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New York.

At the age of 12, Wally fell in love with the scouting program. He would spend his summers working at boy scout camps in the surrounding mountains and would go on to receive a District Award of Merit and the prestigious Silver Beaver Award.

Wally spent two years serving an LDS mission in Seoul, Korea. He grew to love the Korean people, their food, and their way of life. After returning home from his mission he joined the Army National Guard as a linguist and had the opportunity to return to Korea many times.

He loved adventure and through a Korean friend here in the states he was able to work on a deal between Korea and Russia to sell white pine to the Korean government. This gave him the opportunity to visit the white pine forests and Lake Baikal in Russia. He was also the President of the U.S. Chapter of the Korean Institute of Human Rights, which gave him the opportunity to attend the inauguration of President Kim in Seoul in 1998.

Wally loved to travel the highways and byways of America. He drove his family on many memorable vacations. From Disneyland to Maine, he enjoyed family time, always listening to classic tunes and comedy like John Denver and the Smothers Brothers.

The thing Wally valued the most in life was his relationship with his Heavenly Father. He was a wonderful example of kindness to all who knew him. He treasured his children and grandchildren and was a devoted husband to his wife Jenifer. He leaves behind his wife Jenifer, daughters Cynthia Eaton (Barry), Stephanie Hoff (Nate), and Mindy Jolley (Dave), his son Joe Scott (Allie) and a 1966 red Mustang.

A viewing will be held from 7:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, September 14th, 2025 at the Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Bountiful, UT with a graveside service the following Monday, September 15, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Memorial Lakeview Mortuary and Cemetery 1640 Lakeview Drive Bountiful, UT.
