Douglas Elwood Snyder,80, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pocahontas County, WV on July 17, 1945 to parents Kerth and Ethel Mary Snyder.
Although Doug battled with Parkinson’s Disease for many years, he worked construction, specifically as a union carpenter, and a superintendent for Glenmark Corp. After years in the construction field, Doug took a position with Genesis Eldercare until his retirement.
Doug loved spending time in his workshop creating and building new things. He also served as past president of Little Falls Boat Club.
Doug is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie Snyder; daughters, Deena Powell (RJ Powell), Jenise Milush (Brad Milush) and granddaughter, Kristina Snyder; brother, Lewis Snyder (Gina); sister, Molly Hammersley (Loraine); and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his in-laws, Elmer and Helen White; sisters, Imogene Simmons and Guinevere Ratliff (Kate); and brother, Charles Snyder.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Amedisys Hospice for the exceptional care they provided, especially Mackenzie and Crystal whom Doug shared a special bond.
Hastings Funeral Home has been trusted with cremation arrangements.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Monday, February 9th from 4:00 PM until the time of the memorial service at 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Animal Friends of North Central WV, PO Box 1090, Dellslow, WV 26531, or to a local charity of your choice.
