Douglas Trefftzs Obituary

Douglas P. "Doug" Trefftzs, 61, of Rockford, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Born April 29, 1962, in Rockford, the son of Thomas L. and Barbara K. (King) Trefftzs. Graduate of Oregon High School, Wisconsin. Doug married Darlene Nelson on August 13, 1983 at St. Edward Catholic Church where he was a member. He worked for Woodward for several years. Doug was an avid NASCAR fan; especially Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott. He enjoyed working on cars and trucks and enjoyed fishing and family gatherings.
Survived by his wife, Darlene; son, Daniel; mother, Barbara; siblings, Jerry (Sue) Trefftzs of Stoughton, WI, Richard Trefftzs of N. Chicago, Connie (Greg) Grenawalt of Broadhead, WI, and Leanne (Andre) McDonald of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Jan (Larry) James; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins; and close friend and second son, Josh Hill. Predeceased by his father; grandparents; in-laws, James (Dorothy) Nelson; two brothers-in-laws, Jim and Dennis Nelson; and two nephews, James T. Nelson III and Devyn Richardson. The family would like to give a special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice for all their help and support.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 3004 11th St., Rockford. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford and then 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO BOX 1000 Dept 495, Memphis, TN 38101. To share a memory or condolence, please visit olsonfh.com.
