Dr. Dennis D. Sloan, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away on September 4, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born March 19, 1950, in Springfield, Missouri, to Bill and Ada (Gill) Sloan.
Dennis was a proud graduate of Central High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Southwest Missouri State University, his master’s degree at Southern Illinois University, and his doctorate at the University of Missouri–Columbia. His career in education spanned 30 years as a dedicated school administrator in Missouri Public Schools, a role he held with great pride.
From 1969 to 1973, Dennis honorably served his country in the United States Navy. His strong faith guided his life, and he was an active member of Gideons International. A devout Christian, Dennis encouraged others to live by faith and example.
Beyond his career and service, Dennis loved sports—especially baseball and football—and achieved a personal milestone by earning his black belt with the American Taekwondo Association.
He is survived by his children, Greg (Amabel) Sloan, Dawn (Greg) McDowell, and Katy (Tony) Lee; his brother, Mark (Trish) Sloan; and his beloved grandchildren, Lisa, Brooke, Grace, Rocky, Chloe, Riley, Emery, Lillian, Kerrington, and Campbell; his nephew, Nick Sloan.
