McAllen - Dr. Keith Anthony Ramos, a renowned nephrologist and dedicated family man, passed away on June 5, 2023, in McAllen, Texas, at the age of 55, due to a heart attack. Born on February 21, 1968, in the Bronx, New York, Keith was adopted into a loving family from Puerto Rico, where he grew up surrounded by the beauty of the beach. When he was younger, he had a passion for cockfighting and a love for volleyball, but it was his kindness, perseverance, and vast knowledge in the medical field that left a lasting impact on those he encountered.
Keith’s went to Escuela Superior Fernando Suria Chavez in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico where he were really admired and respected for his perseverance. Keith's thirst for knowledge and his determination to help others led him on a journey through higher education. He began his studies at la Universidad de Puerto Rico and the Universidad Central del Caribe, where he completed his medical school training. Afterward, he pursued a residency in Internal Medicine, further sharpening his skills and broadening his expertise. His desire to specialize in nephrology, the study of kidney diseases, led him to the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Puerto Rico, where he gained specialized knowledge in this field.
Almost two decades ago, Keith and his family made the decision to settle in McAllen, Texas. There, he and his wife started the Kidney Doctors of South Texas practice, specializing in kidney care. Keith's dedication and passion for his work earned him immense respect from both colleagues and patients. He was recognized for his ability to connect with people on a personal level, providing comfort and reassurance during challenging times.
In addition to his medical career, Keith served his country as a Captain in the United States Army Medical Field, exemplifying his patriotism and sense of duty. His commitment to serving others was an inspiration to all who knew him, and his service to his country filled him with great pride.
Outside of his professional life, Keith was a loving husband to his wife for 30 years, Zoraly Nuñez, and a devoted father to his son, Keith Anthony Ramos Jr. His family brought him immeasurable joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Keith's siblings, Millie and Carmen Ramos, held a significant place in his life as well. Despite the distance, he maintained a strong bond with his nephews, Jesse, Alphy, and Jason.
In his leisure time, Keith indulged in his passion for numismatics, collecting coins since the tender age of 4. This hobby allowed him to explore his analytical side and brought him a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Salsa music was another of his passions, with artists like Hector Lavoe and Ruben Blades capturing his heart. Keith's love for music extended to playing the conga, and his infectious enthusiasm and skill enlivened any gathering.
Dr. Keith Anthony Ramos will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his profession, his love for his family, and his zest for life. His kindness and warmth touched the lives of many, and his legacy will endure through the countless lives he impacted. When he was asked by a local newspaper, “How would you like to be remembered when you leave this earth? “Well, that I was a hard working and caring physician.” His memory will forever be cherished, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Tony my Loving Lil Brother,
I'll never forget the day that I saw you for the first time. I felt all this Love for you. Although we weren't together due to distance, I always kept you close to my heart. I'll always remember the day that Helen and I went to meet you and Family. It was so cold out. We went out to eat and had the best split pea soup ever. We spoke about making plans to go visit you in Texas. Unfortunately, Covid then didn't allow us to go. Recently, we started talking about making plans to go see you. Sorry we didn't get to complete our plan to get together.
Jaison your nephew will never forget you.
Til we meet again my Lil Brother.
Miss you. True Love Forever.
Love your sister,
Millie Ramos
