Dr. Robert Davis Obituary

Dr. Robert H. Davis, a highly respected pathologist and pillar of the medical community, has passed away at the age of 78.

Born in Dayton, Ohio on September 6, 1945, Dr. Davis began his remarkable journey towards a life devoted to medicine and scientific exploration. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Viola Davis and his brother, Jesse Raymond Davis.

Dr. Davis is survived by his beloved wife, Londa Davis, whom he married on August 31, 1968, in Maryland. He also leaves behind two sons, Ethan (Angela) Davis and Eric (Theresa) Davis, four grandchildren, Ann Marie Davis, Jackson Davis, Matthew Davis, and Lauren Davis, all who were a source of pride and joy for him.

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Heidelberg College in 1967, he continued his studies at the University of Nebraska, where he obtained two Ph.D.'s, one in Medical Biochemistry and the second in Pharmacology. Dr. Davis's illustrious career spanned over four decades, during which he held numerous prestigious positions in esteemed medical institutions across Ohio. He embarked on his residency at Mercy Hospital in Toledo from 1977 to 1981, where he also served as the Director of Ohio Medical Lab. His exceptional expertise and dedication earned him the role of Pathologist at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield.

In 1982, Dr. Davis forged a profound connection with Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine when he became their Laboratory Director and Pathologist. In due course, he rose to the esteemed position of Chief of Staff, demonstrating his exceptional leadership abilities and commitment to delivering high-quality care to the community he served so faithfully. Dr. Davis's contributions extended beyond his primary roles within healthcare institutions. He served as Logan County Deputy Coroner from 1992 to 2005.

Throughout his career, Dr. Davis remained an active member of various professional societies and organizations such as Sigma Xi, American Society of Neurochemistry and Clinical Pathologists, and the American Board of Forensic Examiners. His commitment to continually expanding his knowledge and staying at the forefront of advancements in his field exemplified his unwavering dedication to excellence.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Davis cultivated a love for nature and enjoyed tending to his tree farm. He found solace in the serenity of nature, cherishing the beauty it had to offer.

Those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with Dr. Davis will remember him not only for his groundbreaking contributions to the medical field but also for his kind and welcoming demeanor.
