Dreeta Wallace Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Irby Funeral Home of Marmaduke on Mar. 6, 2026.
Dreeta Lanell Wallace, a beacon of love and family devotion, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Born on July 30, 1955, in Lake Providence, Louisiana, Dreeta was a cherished daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her warmth and kindness touched all who knew her, leaving a legacy of joy and compassion.

The daughter of the late William Carl and Edna Cloise (Tucker) Massey, Dreeta grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings, including her late sister Martha Sue Merriman, late sister Willodean Dukes, and late brother Douglas Earl Massey. Her brothers Jim & Susie Massey, Larry & Deborah Massey, Kenneth Massey, and Zane Massey will fondly remember her as the sister who always extended a helping hand and a listening ear.

Dreeta's heart found its match in Carlos Eugene Wallace, her beloved husband who predeceased her. Their love story was one for the ages, and together they raised two wonderful sons, Timothy Carl and Starla Wallace of Jonesboro, and Brandon Scott Wallace of Marmaduke. Dreeta's role as a mother was one she cherished above all else, and her guidance and wisdom were the foundation of her family's happiness.

Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren, Shelby & Austin Slaven, Sarah & Zane McKemie, and Logan Wallace. Later, she was blessed with six great-grandchildren, who became the apples of her eye. Dreeta's adoration for her grandkids and all children was evident in the way she embraced every moment with them, instilling values of love and family unity.

Dreeta's interests reflected her nurturing spirit. She was an avid reader and puzzle enthusiast, activities that brought her great pleasure and relaxation. Her commitment to her family was paralleled by her dedication to her community, particularly through her work at the St. John Lutheran Church, where she took joy in helping with the Senior Meals program. Her selfless nature and willingness to lend a hand made her an invaluable member of her community.

A life-long friendship with Debbie Eakins stood as a testament to Dreeta's loyalty and the deep bonds she formed. Together, they shared countless memories and supported each other through life's journey.

Dreeta's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her spirit will continue to inspire. Her life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her family and friends. As we bid farewell to Dreeta Lanell Wallace, we celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by the many who were fortunate enough to know her.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 10, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Irby Funeral Home in Marmaduke with the service starting at 11:00. Burial will be at the Providence Cemetery.
