Duane Richard Bobay, 79, of Avilla, Indiana died Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.
He was born July 20, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Richard E. and Helen Dorothy (Busse) Bobay.
He married Flora (Brummett) Rowe on August 30, 2025, at Auburn Church of Christ.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army.
Duane was an accountant at Midwest Tool and Die in Fort Wayne.
He attended Auburn Church of Christ. He was a member of Kendallville American Legion Post 86. In his younger days, he was an avid golfer and softball player. Duane was also a lifelong IU Basketball fan.
Surviving are his wife, Flora Bobay of Avilla; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brian R. (Nini) Bobay of Dayton, Ohio and Kevin J. Bobay of Ashley; seven grandchildren, Adam, Lindsey, Jordan, Hijiri, Nishiki, Miyabi, and Briani; a brother and sister-in-law, Norman (Karen) Bobay of Fort Worth, Texas; and four nieces, Kristy, Misty, Brandi, and Mandi.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation is Saturday, October 25, 2025, from Noon to 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
Funeral services will also be on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
