Duane Leslie Tormey, age 79, of Cassville, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Harmony Dubuque, Dubuque, IA. He was born on April 18, 1945, in Richland Center to Marilyn (Worden) and Leslie Tormey. Duane graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1964. He, his parents, and brother Roger moved to Black Hawk when he was one year old. Duane lived on the farm for 48 years. He was employed by Webcrafters Printing, self employed farming, Four Way Builders and Northland Doors. In 1976, Duane was united in marriage to Karel Miller. He and his wife, Karel, started Black Hawk Enterprises, an agriculture repair shop. Duane was able to fix anything that needed to be fixed. He taught himself to be an electrician, carpenter, and general all-around handyman. Some of his last loves were playing cards with “his girls” and volunteering at the Cassville food pantry.

He joins his parents and his brother Roger and leaves to mourn his loving wife, Karel; son, Jeff (Stacy) Tormey, Amarillo, Texas; and daughter, Jen (Jesse Mergen) Tormey, Cassville, Wisconsin; four grandchildren: Hunter (Jenna) and Owen Tormey and Rylee and Bryar Schmitz.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Beetown Hall, Beetown with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Family and friends may visit on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Beetown Hall. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Duane L. Tormey Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
