Duane Scott was born May 31, 1965, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the son of Paul “Papa” and Doris “Nini” (Townsend) Warnack. Following his father’s Air Force career, the family made their home wherever he was called. From Wyoming to Spain, and Georgia to Hawaii, eventually they landed in Hurst, Texas, and later Weatherford. Throughout their moves to different air force bases, Duane’s love of sports, especially football, basketball and baseball helped him connect with others. His speed eventually earned him a place on the ’82 -‘83 “Blue Magic” Weatherford High School Basketball team, where they etched their place in the Hall of Fame. Early in life, Duane was blessed with three children, Scott, Laura and Molly, and loved being a dad. He never turned down hard work, working at KMART for many years, and later entering into Retail Management. Along with fellow associates, Duane eventually became a partner of LPT Retail Management Services, LLC. He looked after countless convenience stores, from corporate ran stops to mom-and-pop stations that got to keep their doors open because of Duane and the team.
On October 16, 2010, presided over by his father, Duane married Dawn Ann Bernhoft. The couple would raise a fourth child, Kaleb.
Duane's life was filled with rich experiences and cherished traditions. His move back home to care for his parents demonstrated his deep commitment to family, allowing him to honor his roots and care for his loved ones. Clear Lake held a special place in his heart, offering a sanctuary where he could enjoy the freedom to be himself amidst the relaxed atmosphere. He took pleasure in the simple joys of life, whether it was observing the antics of birds and squirrels from the porch, enjoying "Thirsty Thursdays" or the Surf Ballroom. These moments, along with his morning routine of dropping Kaleb off at school and having breakfast with Dawn, were treasured parts of his life.
Duane's humor and straightforward nature made him a memorable presence. He was a man who expressed his love and opinions openly, valuing authenticity above all. His love for his family was profound, and he found immense joy in the company of his wife, children, and grandchildren. Duane's legacy is one of love and the reminder to embrace life's simple pleasures, cherish family, and live authentically. The love he shared with those around him remains his greatest legacy, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
