Dulce Ortiz, a cherished pillar of her community and a beacon of faith, was called home to the Lord on June 17, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on July 19, 1948, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Dulce's radiant spirit was a gift to all who knew her. Her sudden passing in Middletown, New York, leaves a void in the hearts of many, yet her legacy of love and service endures.
Dulce was a loving wife to her husband, Fernando, and together they built a life full of joy and purpose. Dulce was a guiding light to her children, Yvette, Marisol and her spouse Joe, Maribel and her spouse Michael, and Fernando Jr. She was predeceased by daughter Wendy. Dulce was a proud grandmother to Paul, Adrianna, Xavier, Keana, Brianna, Aiyana, Lizzy, Joseph Jr., Mario, Kayla, Emily, Johnathan, Geno, and Gavin, each of whom she loved with all her heart.
Her family extended beyond her immediate kin, including her brothers Roberto, Rosendo, Tony, Abraham, and Hiram, and sisters Virgin and Amparo. Dulce was also predeceased by her beloved sisters Angie, Milagros, and Blanca Flor. She was also cherished by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Dulce had an unwavering commitment to St. Joseph's church since 1967. She was the passionate, driving force and avid supporter of the Spanish Food Festival at St. Joseph's Church after her brother Roberto and family friend Paco left. Her efforts were not just about organizing an event but about fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride. St. Joseph's was a second home where she poured her energy and spirit into every activity, encouraging others to take pride and actively participate in their faith community. Dulce embodied the Christian virtues of charity, kindness, and humility, inspiring those around her to follow in her footsteps of service and love.
Today let us celebrate the remarkable women that Dulce was. Her impact on our lives is immeasurable, and her memory will forever be a guiding star. Dulce's love knew no bounds, and her spirit continues to resonate through the countless lives she touched. She has left us a legacy that calls us to live with purpose, to cherish our loved ones, and to serve our community with a joyful heart.
Though we mourn the loss of such a remarkable soul, we also rejoice in the knowledge that Dulce has found eternal peace with her Creator. Let us honor her memory by living out the values she held dear, by loving unconditionally, and by making this world a better place-one act of kindness at a time. Dulce Ortiz, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant of the Lord.
