On December 11, 2023, after a very difficult and courageous fight with renal cell carcinoma, Dustin Cole Boyd was welcomed into the arms of Jesus.
Dustin was born in Longview, Texas on March 12, 1984, where he lived the majority of his life.
Though he was often perceived as quiet and mellow, those who knew him best could tell you he was the funniest guy in every room he walked in to and unmatched in his sarcasm, wit, and rapid fire response.
Dustin was a gifted athlete. His speed and agility paved the way for his baseball career at Longview High School. Dustin never met a sport he didn't like. In his free time, he loved going to the gym and maintaining his athletic build. At home, he could easily be found watching the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, and the Texas Longhorns. (Yes, he waited his whole life to see the Rangers win the World Series... and they did.) He loved going on walks and hiking with his wife and driving the countryside. Together, they loved finding little towns with obscure features. They also loved to plan trips and go on adventures. Dustin was notably afraid of heights but it didn't stop him from zip lining across mountains in Costa Rica or riding a horse down a volcano. He would try almost anything and never let fear control his life.
Dustin and his wife, Staci met in 2007. They married at First Presbyterian Church on October 21, 2017. They had their first child Henley on March 18, 2020, and their second child Ruby on June 1, 2021.
Dustin would tell you that the most fun he ever had in his life was being a dad. There was no greater joy than making his girls laugh and smile. He was an extremely proud father and nothing filled his pride more than when he was playing with them or watching them accomplish something new. You would never hear him laugh like he did when they did something funny.
He spent every Saturday morning waking up his girls with breakfast and dancing and singing with them. He'd let them climb all over him and jump off his shoulders. He let them sit on his back while he did push ups or cling to his legs while he did pull ups.
Even after Dustin received his diagnosis, he would set his pain and sickness aside to be the best husband, father, son, uncle, and brother he could be. He soaked up all of the love and memories he could and never gave up the fight. He knew his soul would rest with Jesus in eternity and feared no end.
He is survived by his wife, Staci Boyd; his daughters, Henley Hannah and Ruby Ryan Boyd; parents, Grover and Trena Boyd; his brother, Wesley and wife, Kayla Boyd; niece, Kinsley Grace; His sister, Mechelle Boyd and nephews, Solomon Mealer, and Skylar Boyd; and nieces, Kyla and Kalyn Jackson; his mother in law, Kelli Barton and his father in law, John Barton; his brother in law, Taylor and wife, Alma Barton and their son, Alexander Barton; his brother in law, Spencer and wife, Natalie Barton and their children, Brooks and Collin's Hughes; his brother in law, Cole and wife, Emily Barton and their children, Scottlyn, Paisley, and Saige Barton; and countless other family and friends.
A Life Celebration service for Dustin Boyd will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in The Chapel of Welch Funeral home. The family will receive visitors for a time of visitation one hour prior to the start of the service.
