Dustin Virkus Obituary
Dustin Virkus, 51, of Clarkfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27th at 1:00 pm at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7:00 pm at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 5pm and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Dustin Lucius Virkus was born February 17th, 1974 to Wayne and Pat Virkus at the Montevideo Hospital. He attended school in Clarkfield and graduated from Granite Falls High School. He attended college at Southwest State University in Marshall; later moving on to the University of Northwest Ohio majoring in High Performing Motorsports. He moved back to Minnesota and started Virkus Lift Systems and continued that career and also started farming in 2018 until present; farming was his life long passion.
Dustin's love for racing started in 1990 and continued throughout this life. Whether he was racing or helping others, you could always find Dustin around a race track. He was a true sportsman and mentor to many in the racing community. Dustin was Wissota’s first back to back Hornet National Champion.
Above all his career and hobbies; family was his top priority. He was a proud Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, Brother-in-Law, and Great Uncle. To all his friends, he was the “go to” guy in good times and in bad. His sense of humor, quick wit, and love for pranks truly made him one of a kind. His compassion and caring for others made him a true friend. Dustin’s daughter Rhianna was born May 2005. They enjoyed many pranks and laughs with each other and she inherited his love of racing.
Dustin is survived by his daughter Rhianna Virkus, parents, Wayne and Pat Virkus, brother Derek (Jody) Virkus, nephew and niece Thomas and Tallie Virkus, great nephew and niece Waylon and Aubree Virkus.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Lucius and Evelyn Tongen, Hilko and Jennie Grimmius, uncles Dan Willard and Larry Grimmius, aunt Kathy Johanson, and cousin Debbie Siegler.
Dustin was a lifelong member of Bergen Lutheran Church. He will be missed by many but never forgotten.
