Dwayne Lee "Hito" Bishop, 64, of Kenedy, Texas, passed away surrounded by family on October 11, 2025. A devoted father, proud grandfather, and cherished brother, Dwayne will be remembered for his kind heart, generous nature, and the special way he brought people together.
Born on November 10, 1960, in Dover, Delaware, Dwayne was the beloved son of Dannie Bishop and the late Maria Bishop. He grew up surrounded by family and developed strong values that guided him throughout his life-honor, integrity, curiosity, and compassion. Dwayne's inquisitive mind and love for understanding how things worked set him on a path that would define both his career and his character.
After serving his country with dedication as a proud member of the United States Air Force, Dwayne continued his professional life at Emerson Automation Solutions. There, he built a distinguished career as a Senior Electronics Engineering Technician, retiring after years of hard work and technological expertise. His coworkers and friends admired his analytical mind, his determination to solve any problem, and his willingness to share his knowledge with others.
A man of many passions, Dwayne was a former competitive bodybuilder who valued health, discipline, and self-improvement. While fitness remained important throughout his life, his greatest joy came from his family-especially his three grandsons, whom he adored. Known lovingly as "G-Paw," Dwayne treasured every moment with them, from celebrating milestones to sharing simple laughter and adventures.
Known as the "king of finding a good bargain," Dwayne could often be found scouring clearance aisles for deals, turning his knack for value into a kind of art form. Beyond that playful side, he was the heart and glue of his extended family. Dwayne made it a personal mission to maintain family connections, check in on relatives, and bring everyone together. His generosity was boundless-offering help, advice, or simply a listening ear whenever someone needed it.
In his free time, Dwayne pursued his interests with the same enthusiasm that colored every part of his life. He was an avid gun collector who appreciated precision and craftsmanship, and he enjoyed traveling with his family, exploring new places, and creating lasting memories everywhere he went.
Dwayne is survived by his father, Dannie Bishop; his daughter, Krystal De La Cruz, and husband, Juan De La Cruz; his brothers, Daniel, Darrell, and Douglas Bishop; his nephew, Tony Bishop; and his three beloved grandsons, Juan Jr., Hunter, and Dalton, who will forever carry his love and example in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Bishop, and his brother, David Bishop.
In remembrance of Dwayne's life and faith, we hold close the comforting words of John 14:1–3: "Let not your heart be troubled I go to prepare a place for you."
